MIOS in Berlin‑Buch: A New Residential Quarter Between Heritage and Nature

June 2024 — With the completion of the MIOS residential quarter, a project in Berlin‑Buch has reached its final stage that precisely reflects our understanding of contemporary and responsible urban development.

Developed in collaboration with EQVIVA Projektbetreuung, an ensemble has been created in northern Pankow that integrates sensitively into the historic surroundings of the Ludwig‑Hoffmann‑Quartier while meeting the requirements of future‑proof living.

The location stands out for its exceptional quality: Situated directly next to the Bucher Forst, MIOS combines proximity to nature with the advantages of an established urban infrastructure. Excellent public transport connections ensure short travel times to Berlin’s city center — without sacrificing peace or greenery.

At the heart of the development was a holistic sustainability approach. The quarter meets high energy standards and employs construction methods designed for durability and resource efficiency. The solid structure made of highly insulating materials eliminates the need for additional insulation layers and reduces the ecological footprint already during production. Heating is supplied through a highly efficient combination of renewable energy and district heating, allowing the project to meet today’s climate targets.

The apartments themselves also reflect this commitment to quality. A variety of floor plans accommodates diverse lifestyles. Generous ceiling heights, natural materials, and a clear architectural language define the living experience. Outdoor spaces such as balconies, terraces, and a richly designed courtyard extend the private living areas and strengthen the connection to the surroundings.

MIOS serves as a model for project development that thoughtfully unites architecture, sustainability, and location. Market response has been strong: most apartments have already been allocated, and the final units are currently available.

We would like to thank all project partners for their trusting and dedicated collaboration. With MIOS, a residential quarter has been created that delivers lasting quality — for its residents as well as for the surrounding urban environment.
